3rd Quarter 2014 Message

We found out recently that we will be losing one of our long time employees, Laurie Lindsay.  Laurie’s husband has accepted a new position in Fort Meyers, Florida.  We asked Laurie if she was willing to commute until we find a replacement, but she said the tolls would be a killer.
Laurie came to us in 2005–just short of 9 years ago.  She has been a valuable member of our credit union team and will be missed.  Thank you, Laurie for all of your hard work.  We wish you and your family the very best in sunny southern Florida.
In August, we were part of a very successful Safety Fair at Western Avenue where we manned a table to pass out credit union literature and answer questions for prospective as well as our existing members.  We have already seen positive results from that effort.  Thanks to all those who helped put on a great event.
When in the market for any kind of loan, remember that you can get pre-approved before you shop; that way if you find what you are looking for, you will be ready to seal the deal.  Another little known benefit of membership in your Utilities Credit Union is to be able to purchase a new vehicle, take the rebate and dealer financing, then within 100 days come to the credit union and refinance at our competitive rate and save in 2 ways.
In July, our Examining Committee did a complete member statement audit and  found the records to be accurate and current.  This kind of audit is done every 2 years and requires considerable time.  A special thank you is in order for Al Gruba and his fellow committee members of John Roffler, Jane Pecka, Sheryl Hoepner, Kelsey Hendrickson and Mida Bennett for their hard work making sure our accounting is accurate and on the mark.
In the past few weeks, we have been hearing that the Federal Reserve may be thinking about nudging rates up in 2015 for the first time in several years.  We’ll see what happens and let you know.  It could be some good news for the savings side of the ledger.
Thank you for being a member of Utilities Credit Union.  Talk to your co-workers who are not members and tell them they don’t know what they’re missing.  It is a great employee benefit right at your fingertips.  Check our saving and lending rates at www.myucu.org today.  Call us at 715-737-2467 or stop in from 12:00 to 1:00 five days per week.  Need to stop in at a different time? Call and see about setting an appointment outside the 12:00-1:00.  Remember, we are here for you, the owner.

Thank you,
Scott J. Seaholm
Chairman, Utilities Credit Union
