2nd Quarter 2015 Message

July 1, 2015
Dear Member:

This past quarter Board member Christie Black (Boatman) resigned her position siting family priorities.  We all understand her reasoning and want to wish her well and thank her for her service to the Credit Union.  To replace that position, we asked Becky McIlhargey from our Call Center to serve; she graciously accepted.  Becky has a financial and accounting background that will be a great addition to the board.  Congratulate her the next time you see her in the halls of Sky Park.

Are you in the market for a new vehicle?  Your Utilities Credit Union has a great way for you to take the rebate, get the discounts and get the best rate.  Take the dealer financing and then come finance the vehicle with us within 100 days and still get new car rates and terms!  You can even talk with us about getting pre-approved and get your credit swagger on!  Remember it is super easy to set up your payments on automatic payroll deduction. And if you get paid every 2 weeks, you end up paying 1 more payment per year, your loan is paid off early and you save a bundle in interest!

We not only finance vehicles, but boats, campers, ATVs, PWC, tractors and almost anything else you can think of.  With our HELOC (home equity line of credit) you can finance home improvements, vacations, maybe a back yard pool and hot tub, landscaping and many other items with the interest being tax deductible, in most cases (talk with your tax preparer).

Do you know someone from the Company who is not benefitting from membership in the Utilities Credit Union?  Refer them today and help them to start enjoying one of the great benefits of being employed by Xcel Energy.  Family members of current or retired employees are also eligible as well as grandchildren.

For 7 ½ years, interest rates on savings have been flat.  The prime lending rate has not changed from 3.25% since December 2008.  Recently the Federal Reserve has indicated that they may start raising rates in the 3rd quarter of this year.  What that would mean is fluctuating interest rates on both savings and loans, just something to keep in mind if you are thinking of making a big purchase.  As with any financial prediction, time will tell.

Our office is open for walk in traffic from 12:00-1:00 five days per week and available by phone one hour before and one-half hour after the open hours at 715-737-2467.  We also have a web site at myucu.org where you can check the hours, send an email to staff, check the latest loan and savings rates and check to see what other services we offer.  Remember the Credit Union is here for you.  Our members are the owners!    Have a great summer!
